Learn what every button on the desktop web canvas does

Wondering what any of the buttons or icons on the NodesNow desktop web app do? This reference guide will answer your questions. Follow the links to learn more about each feature.

Top menu bar

The top bar contains some of the tools related to the space's information and basic collaboration.

Starting from the top left of the canvas and moving right, you'll find the following:

Space name

The top most left displays the name of the space and the picture designated to the space in the space details configuration. Tapping the hamburger menu reveals details about the space. You can update a space's name and description in the mobile and desktop apps.

Start Teams call

Tap this button to start or join a Microsoft Teams call within the space.

Invite to join

By tapping INVITE TO JOIN you will be able to invite participants directly into the space, as well as generating a QR code and a URL for the space. Share these with participants so they can join the space on their devices.

Left toolbar

Moving to the left of the canvas, from top to bottom, you'll find:

Main toolbox

In the toolbox, you'll find a set of tools designed to enhance your productivity.

From top to bottom, these tools include:

  • SELECTION TOOL - Use the selection tool to select any object on the canvas and duplicate or group them

  • PENCIL TOOL - Use the pencil tool to draw on the canvas. You could change the line thickness and color to add variety to your drawings.

  • ERASER TOOL - Use the eraser tool to erase your drawings on the canvas.

  • NOTES TOOL - Use the notes tool to add post-it notes onto your canvas. Spice them up by changing text size or the note's color.

  • SHAPES TOOL - Use the shapes tool to add shapes onto the canvas. Make it unique by adding colors to your shapes.

  • TEXT TOOL - Add text to enhance or emphasize your presentation with the text tool.

  • LASSO TOOL - Freely select and group your objects with no constraints with the lasso tool.

Miscellaneous toolbox

In the bottom half of the toolbox, you'll find a set of tools that will aid you further in your creativity, or kickstart and inspire you.

From top to bottom, these tools include:

  • TIMER TOOL - Use the timer tool to keep you on track with your space sessions

  • TEMPLATE TOOL - Kickstart your session with a preset template to get you going. Templates contain a set of premade tools that will help you in creating and conducting your collaboration session.

  • FRAME TOOL - Use the frame tool to organize your objects on the canvas into an organized "frame".

  • UPLOAD TOOL - Upload media to enhance the canvas from your desktop using the upload tool. Only .jpg, .png, .gif and .mp4 are currently supported.

  • UNDO/REDO - Revert any mistakes or revert any accidental changes with the undo and redo tool.

Bottom toolbar

In the bottom toolbar, you'll find a set of tools designed to aid you with vision.

From left to right, these tools include:

  • ACCESSIBILITY - Access options that aid you with ease in vision including changing font size or interface colors with the Accessibility tool.

  • ZOOM - Zoom in or out of the canvas

  • FIT TO SCREEN - Fit all content on the canvas to the screen size

Right toolbar

In the right toolbar, you'll find the following options:

  • SHARED ITEMS - An inbox where all of the shared media and files appear. Participants who sent media or files from their mobile app or desktop web will have their sent files appear here.

  • WRAP UP AND LEAVE - Tap on WRAP UP AND LEAVE to leave the session and save it to your account.
